Why Umi exists

Most crypto apps force you to choose: easy UX or real custody. Centralized exchanges are simple but you don’t own your keys. Self-custody wallets give you control but the experience is painful - seed phrases, gas on every chain, different wallets for different networks. Umi gives you both. The experience of a centralized app with the security of true self-custody. Your keys are split between you and the Ika network using zero-trust cryptography. Neither party can act alone. Your money stays yours. This is only possible because of Sui. zkLogin removes seed phrases. Sponsored transactions remove gas friction. And Sui coordinates everything across chains so the complexity disappears.

Key innovations

Zero-Trust Distributed Wallets Your signing keys never exist in complete form. They’re generated using distributed key generation (DKG) across the Ika network. To sign anything, both shares participate through secure multi-party computation - but they never combine. Programmable Signing Policies Your Umi Signer enforces rules you define: spending limits, address whitelists, time delays, beneficiary access. These rules execute on-chain, trustlessly, without any human in the loop. AI Agent Integration Give AI agents scoped access to your wallet. They can trade, rebalance, and execute transactions - but only within the boundaries you set. The policies are enforced on-chain, not by the agent. Gas Abstraction Never worry about having the right gas token. Deposit any supported token, and Umi handles gas across all chains. One balance covers everything.
